Fishing Hobby Levels: Unlocks & Rewards
Fishing XP comes from unlocking new species — landing a fish you've never caught is what levels you up, so repeat-catching the same species earns very little. Higher levels unlock rarer fish and better tools.
| Hobby level | Key rewards | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Lv. 1 | Fishing Skill 1 · Fish Quality 1 | Starter perks; drop quality starts improving |
| Lv. 2 | Rod Maintenance 1 · Fish Quality 2 | Lower rod durability drain |
| Lv. 4 | Fish Lure · Tactician 1 | The lure summons glowing blue fish shadows |
| Lv. 6 | Mermaid Perfume · Tactician 2 | Perfume helps complete fishing event goals |
| Lv. 10 | Tactician 4 · Rod Maintenance 5 | Near-maxed reeling tolerance and rod care |
Fishery Economics: What Each Weather Window Is Worth
We re-aggregated the sell prices of all 24 species in our encyclopedia by weather × time slot — the gap between windows becomes obvious. All numbers come from this site's 1-star baseline prices, so you can verify them in-game.
| Weather window | Hours | High-value targets | Star catch | Output rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 🌈 Rainbow | Morning / Afternoon | Hammerhead Shark 600 · Rainbow Trout 180 | Hammerhead (Lv 10) | ★★★★★ |
| ❄️ Snow | All day / Night | Ice Sea Angel 750 · Snow Crab 300 | Ice Sea Angel | ★★★★★ seasonal |
| ☀️ Sunny late night | 00–06 | Koi 800 · Silver Chimaera 140 | Koi (Secret Pond) | ★★★★ |
| 🌧️ Rainy night | 18–24 | European Eel 150 · European Flounder 80 · Sand Bream 55 | European Eel (Lv 7) | ★★★★ |
| ☀️ Sunny night | 18–24 | European Lobster 260 · Pufferfish 120 · Blackspot Sea Bream 90 | European Lobster (East Sea) | ★★★★ |
| 🌤️ Ordinary day | All day | Atlantic Mackerel 70 · Salmon 60 · Bonito 35 | — | ★★ for leveling |
The rainbow premium
On ordinary days the always-available base fish (Minnow 12 ~ Salmon 60) average only ~30 coins per cast. In the rainbow window, the Hammerhead is worth 20× that and the Rainbow Trout 6×. Same cast — pick the right window and the payoff multiplies.
The bait break-even line
Bait is crafted from apples, and each apple turned into jam is worth 67 coins — feeding bait to a 30-coin base fish just burns apples. Only windows where fish go for 140+ coins (Silver Chimaera / European Eel tier) justify bait; legendary windows always do.
Legendary camping order
Of the three legendaries, the Ice Sea Angel has the loosest conditions (snow, all day), the Koi is the pickiest (sunny late night only, plus finding the Secret Pond), and the Hammerhead is level-gated (Lv 10). Camp whichever legendary matches today's weather — never waste a snow day.
The Reel Battle: Read the Line Color
Fishing's core mechanic is the reel tug-of-war — the line color is your starting gun, and misreading it is the #1 reason big fish escape.
White line
The line is slack and safe — hold to reel in continuously and bank the window.
Yellow line
Tension is rising — ease off or tap lightly instead of holding. Don't get greedy.
Red line
Release immediately! Keep pulling and the line snaps. Wait for white/yellow again.
Cast near the fish shadow
Spot a shadow in the water, drop your bobber next to it, and wait for the bite — a shake or exclamation mark means it's hooked.
Hold to reel, watch the color
Press and hold to start the battle. The color cycles white → yellow → red; whenever it turns red, let go.
Big shadows take patience
The bigger the shadow, the more tug cycles it takes. Apple-crafted bait and the fish lure (glowing blue shadows) both raise bite rate and quality.
Fishing Contests & Collection Achievements
Beyond daily selling, fishing has periodic contests and long-term collection goals with limited rewards.
How contests work
Contests open at the fishing-village boat: catch as many fish as you can within the time limit — personal goal 5 fish, team goal 30 combined, rewards include surprise gacha shells. Mermaid Perfume boosts efficiency for a short time.
Collection milestones
Unlock 10 different species for the Bronze fishing medal, 50 for Silver, and the full encyclopedia for the Gold medal plus a special rod — the collector's Everest.
Fishing achievements
Hobby level 10 grants the "Skilled Angler" title; trigger 10 hidden phases across contests for "Angler"; trigger 100 fish schools for "Blessing of the School".

Get the code →After the Catch: Sell or Cook?
Every catch has three fates: sell directly, cook for value, or donate to the encyclopedia. Good planners use all three.
🐟 Donate new species first Encyclopedia rewards are hidden income
A species caught for the first time should go to the encyclopedia donation — the collection progress and achievements are income of their own. Worry about selling the duplicates.
🍳 Cooking doubles fish value Raw → dish, higher margin
Many fish earn more as dishes: Salmon Sushi beats raw salmon by about 350 coins; 1-star fish under 130 coins suit Fish & Chips (with a 1-star potato); 2 shellfish + 2 fish make the Deluxe Seafood Platter. See the full recipe guide.
🛒 Legendary fish: sell as-is No hesitation at the top
Koi, Ice Sea Angel, Hammerhead Shark — the legendary tier sells fastest as-is: high unit price, no kitchen capacity needed. Let the stovetops chew through cheap low-star stock instead.
